Bonsall Energy Group is a group of Bonsall residents dedicated to exploring how we (people in the village) might benefit from community-driven, local and green energy generation.
Our goal is to find, fund and run community energy projects that will help people in Bonsall save money, be more self-sufficient and reduce the village’s carbon footprint.
The vast majority of our work is done through a working group where we conduct research, develop projects and identify and apply for funding opportunities that can make those projects happen.
As we gear up to apply for some bigger funding opportunities to get our first generation projects off the ground, we are looking for new people to come and help us achieve this.
The work can be roughly grouped into the following categories:
Operations:
This is where the technical work happens and could include research, project or concept development, proposal writing, project management, financial / business modelling.
Communications and engagement:
Community engagement is critical to everything we do, so this is where we write articles, keep the website updated, organise events and engage stakeholders.
Fundraising and Business Development:
We have to find funding for the things we want to do, so this is where we identify, research and apply to funding opportunities and build financial partnerships.
Finance and governance:
BEG is a community benefit society and our governance is community-based. This is where we organise our AGMs, our accounting and reporting and maintain our records.
If you’d like to get involved, have a chat with any of us, send an email to info@bonsallenergy.group or come to a working group meeting (usually 19:30 on the second Tuesday of the month at the village hall).
