Community renewable energy feasibility study – Frequently Asked Questions

If there are questions you would like answered here, you can send them to us via this form. You can also read more info on the feasibility study, here.

What is the point of the feasibility study?

We want to work out what community owned renewable energy options might be possible in Bonsall. Community energy schemes can reduce energy bills for residents, provide funding for other community projects, decrease energy dependency and / or decrease the village’s carbon footprint

When will the feasibility study be finished?

It started in April 2024 and will hopefully be finished by the end of 2024.

What does ‘feasibility’ mean?

It means seeing how possible different types of community renewable energy schemes might be. This means looking into planning restrictions, connections into the grid, financial models, community preferences, environmental factors, etc to understand what might work for Bonsall.

What happens at the end of the feasibility study?

We will know which options for renewable energy generation in Bonsall might work and which won’t at the moment. We can then take a decision as to whether to try and implement any of the options as projects. A feasibility study only gives you information – it doesn’t commit us to any particular scheme or project. Once the study is completed the results will be shared with Bonsall residents.
